The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State deepened yesterday when the two factions traded blames over alleged suspension of their chieftains.
The party was divided into two with ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo and the party’s financier, Buruji Kashamu leading the factions.
Kashamu faction which has Adebayo Dayo as Chairman yesterday dismissed reports of the expulsion and suspension of some of its chieftains describing the move as “of no consequence whatsoever’ .
Saturday Vanguard gathered that, Obasanjo group which has Srnator Dipo Odujinrin as its Chairman has announced the expulsion of some chieftains in the other faction.
And in its reaction, Kashamu faction in a statement issued in Abeokuta by the Publicity Secretary, Mr. Waliu Oladipupo described members of Obasanjo faction as ‘ outlaws who have since been suspended by the only recognized and authentic State Working Committee (SWC).
It vowed to press contempt charges against Odujinrin and his people just as it urged party members to be focused and continue to work in the overall interest of the party.
“What is more, the Federal High Court in Lagos had in a judgment delivered on 16th November, 2012, nullified the purported congress that they conducted, ordered their arrest and prosecution for holding themselves out as officers of the party in Ogun State.”
” This was sequel to two judgments delivered by an Ogun State High Court sitting in Ilaro which on 19th June and 3rd August, 2012 affirmed our Exco as the authentic management body for the party in the state and nullified the list of candidates submitted for the 21st July, 2012 council election in Ogun State by these impostors.
“It should be recalled that the authentic State Working Committee had on Thursday, 8th November 2012 , suspended Maj.-Gen. Adetunji Olurin (rtd); Senator Dipo Odujinrin; one Dapo Adeyemi; Hon. Bode Mustapha and one Yahaya Ahmed, from the party for anti-party activities.
”The reactionary move of these dissidents was not totally unexpected since their godfather and points man have been cut to size.
Naturally, it should be expected that they will not want to go down without a fight. It is just that their action is no more than political masturbation by some political Lilliputians.
”They have embarked on a mission that their godfathers could not achieve. The house built on the quick sand of illegalities, imposition and injustice will continue to crumble under the weight of truth and incontrovertible evidence.
We have always been and will continue to be ahead of them. They failed before; they will fail this time and will continue to fail,”it said.
